Hydronic Floor Heating Basics |
Hydronic Floor Heating BasicsHydronic floor heating systems are warm water systems, which integrates PEX barrier pipe either within or just below the floor surface. Typical with hydronic floor heating systems, water at a temperature of 47-62°C is circulated through the circuits of pipe which in turn warms the floor to a surface temperature of 25-28°C. Compared to radiators or free standing heaters where heat is transferred from a small surface area far hotter than the space it is heating, hydronic floor heating transfers heat from a large surface area, which is only slightly warmer than the room. Hydronic floor heating systems powered by gas are economical to run and virtually maintenance free. Using smart controls, hydronic floor heating provides the most comfortable all round warmth of any heating system. In concrete screed floors, the hydronic floor heating PEX pipes are set out on top of insulation before the screed covers the pipe and completes the floor construction. Summary:
